Archaeologists declare that India has been inhabited for approximately the past 30,000. About 12,000 years ago, during the Ice Age, is about the time modern humans settled.
Indus Valley Civilization , known as the earliest urban society in India, lived between 2500 and 1900 BC, or more than 5000 years ago. Their settlements covered quite a huge portion of the subcontinent, and their population estimates are well over 5,000,000. Since that time in history, India has seen many. many more cultures inhabitant their land, along with many changes, and challenges to follow.
Not long before the 19th century, Britain gained political power over the country, and reined until 1947. At that time India gained back it's politcal power and declared it's independence. The subcontinent was then divided into 2 portions, being: the Republic of India and Pakistan. Shortly thereafter, these 2 nations went to war again, and in 1971 Bangladesh declared it's independence from East Pakistan.
